We are ideally located for all methods of logistics, two minutes from the train station, with close links to the M1 and an abundance of on-site parking. The hotel has an extensive range of facilities that will suit all requirements whether you are planning a Wedding/ Meeting/ Student Ball/ Dinner Dance or Awards Ceremony. The Ballroom - offers the perfect backdrop to large scale meetings for up to 400 delegates, wedding receptions and Dinner Dances for up to 270 guests and has recently been refurbished to highlight the magnificent splendour of this room. Adjoining the Ballroom is the Assembly Room with private bar facility which can comfortably seat 80 guests for dinner respectively. The Midland Suite is ideal for boardroom meetings for up to 10 people. The York, Great Central, Waverley and Arundel Rooms are all ideal for medium sized meetings up to 50. The Victoria Suite is a self contained block of dedicated conference rooms which give flexibility for training, conference, interviews and workshops. The Conference Suite is situated adjacent to our new Victorian Garden and ample car parking facility.

Special Features

History of the Royal Victoria The Hotel added the ‘Royal’ prefix following a visit in 1875 by their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. The hotel has enjoyed further royal patronage including visits from Queen Victoria in 1897, King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra again in 1905 and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth and the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret in 1947.

The Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway Company assumed management in 1893. The comparatively local railway became more ambitious and forged a link South to a new London terminus at Marylebone. On completion of this main line the company changed its name to the Great Central Railway and to this day, one of the hotel’s meeting rooms bears the name ‘The Great Central Room’.

In 1923 The Great Central Railway was absorbed by LNER (London North East Railway) and the Royal Victoria Hotel became on of 25 hotels operated by the company. LNER were later nationalised and the hotel operated under British Transport Hotels.

The hotel was sold in 1982 to Midland Hotels and changed ownership again in 1989 and was subsequently sold to its present owners, Beck Conroy Consulting Ltd in 2001. After many years of neglect the hotel has now regained its former glory having undergone major refurbishment.
