The Newington Hotel sits proud aside the "Royal Approach", the historical entrance route to medieval York.
Originally built as a terrace of three Georgian Town Houses; with stabling and outhouses, The Newington enjoys panoramic views over the old Knavesmire Common part of, which forms the famous York Racecourse, often referred to by seasoned race-goers as "The Ascot of the North".
A relaxed ambience pervades throughout the cosy bar and lounges and the intimate cellar restaurant serves a fixed price dinner menu that changes daily offering a style of cookery that uses traditional English fare presented with a hint of modernity.
Whilst there are a host of things to see and do to keep you fully occupied during your stay; you will welcome the opportunity to unwind and relax in the sauna, followed by a dip in the heated indoor pool.
Within its secluded courtyard setting The Newington Hotel will delight you with its tranquil privacy yet close proximity to all of York's main attractions. There is FREE parking for up to 30 cars within the hotel grounds and York railway station is only five minutes taxi ride away.
There are a variety of bedroom styles all with private facilities ranging from single, twin and double bedded to family rooms sleeping three or four guests: with a lift to all the main floors. In addition, the "Feature Rooms" boast a four poster bed, jacuzzi bath and most have views over the racecourse.
The meeting rooms offer quiet, unpretentious facilities for that informal gathering or slightly more formal occasions in a theatre style format. Most AV equipment is available on request.
