The conference centre was recently awarded Business Britain’s Unique Conference Venue of the Year and won the White Rose Award of Unusual Conference Venue of the Year. The elegant surroundings at the National Railway Museum are sure to add prestige to any corporate event. A stunning backdrop is provided across three exhibition halls, housing the world's pre-eminent railway collection.

The Walker Suite provides the perfect business environment for up to 120 delegates. The adjacent Allport Room is ideal for boardroom meetings seating up to 18. When you join both rooms together they provide 275 square meters of exhibition space with separate refreshment area. The Gibb Lecture Theatre has tiered theatre-style seating for 78 and is fitted with a multi-media presentation system.

A small conference room for up to 6 people comes fully equipped with photocopier, fax, phone and data point and is conveniently situated by the entrance of our Conference Suite which can also be used as a conference organiser’s office! PLUS, the fully inclusive day-delegate rate includes admission to the award-winning museum (European Museum of the Year 2001) and free on site parking.

The Great Hall has a stunning display of the finest locomotives in the collection including the record breaking Mallard, Eurostar and the Japanese Bullet Train. This area is an ideal venue for pre dinner drinks, receptions or a smaller dinner. Station Hall offers a unique location for dining – sit on the platform against a backdrop of the Edwardian era or sample our excellent cuisine next to the Royal carriages themselves. We can cater for up to 800 guests for a dinner and 1000 for a reception.

Travelling by Road

For visitors travelling by road York is conveniently located just 20 minutes from the A1(M) motorway and 40 minutes from Leeds/Bradford Airport. The Museum is clearly signposted from all approaches to the city. Visitors arriving by car should park in the Visitors Car Park and enter the Museum via the Car Park entrance.

Travelling by Train

Direct rail services run to York from many of the UK's regional centres. York is half way between London (Kings Cross station) and Edinburgh. It takes less than two hours to travel to York from London with trains every half hour, at least 25 direct trains each week day. There is a rail link to and from Manchester International Airport with trains leaving every hour during the day.The Museum is only a few minutes walk from York railway station. The route is signposted from the station. There is now a direct route to the museum via the station footbridge (please note that this is not suitable for the disabled or pushchairs).

Travelling by Plane
