Standing in 20 acres of gardens and parkland, yet five minutes from York city centre, Middlethorpe Hall & Spa combines the comfort and elegance of country house hospitality with the efficiency demanded by modern business. The Queen Anne style house, which was built in 1699 has been decorated and furnished in a style which is in keeping with the elegance of the period. There are twenty nine bedrooms which range from spacious single to suites with sitting rooms suitable for interviews and small meetings.

The Barlow Room which is a self-contained purpose-built meeting room is fifty yards from the main house and is ideal for small conferences, reception and private dining. It has three-phase wiring, central floor mounted plug sockets, blackout facilities, full ventilation, dimmers on all lights and Wi-Fi internet connections.

The Boardroom is ideal for small confidential meetings and seats ten. It has its own adjoining sitting room furnished with soft armchairs and an open fire. This is suitable for private drinks, interviews or as an extra syndicate room. There are also six suites at Middlethorpe, with their own sitting rooms which are easily converted into interview or syndicate rooms.

As well as our fine dining restaurant (the only one in York to have been awarded Three Rosettes by the Automobile Association), we have small private dining rooms which are ideal for business entertaining or family celebrations. The Yellow Room which overlooks the gardens will seat up to twelve. Larger parties of up to fifty-six can be accommodated in the Grill Room which has its own sitting room for pre-dinner drinks. Day meetings may break in the Pineapple Room, an ideal size for up to twenty-two delegates.

Middlethorpe Health and Beauty Spa, cunningly located in a pair of converted Cottages, contains a large swimming pool, spa bath, steam room, sauna, gymnasium and a club room where drinks and meals are served. The Spa has also three beauty salons with qualified therapists providing the latest treatments using, Molton Brown, Clarins, E’spa and Jessica products.

Middlethorpe Hall & Spa is in excellent position to arrange a variety of sporting and sightseeing activities. York Race Course, known as “The Ascot of the North”, is on our doorstep and we are within easy reach of Doncaster home of the St. Leger, Ripon and Wetherby. We are close to several golf courses and can also arrange sports such as clay pigeon shooting, fishing, archery and hot air ballooning. There is much to be seen both in the historic city of York and the surrounding countryside, and we can organise full and half-day sightseeing tours to include some of Yorkshire’s rich variety of towns, buildings and landscape.
