One of England's oldest hotels and one of its prettiest. Built as a coaching in the 13th Century, The Bear has played host to royalty, film stars and politicians. Now fully refurbished and equipped with all the modern facilities that one would expect.

At the rear of the hotel is a small courtyard area with tables and chairs to enjoy a light meal, afternoon tea or an evening cocktails on a warm summer night. With its ivy-clad façade, oak beams, open fireplaces and stone walls, the Macdonald Bear Hotel exudes warmth and cosiness - perfect for an escape to good, old-fashioned hospitality.

Here you can relax in style! Classic English design is an essential aspect of the Macdonald Bear, and all the hotel’s 54 bedrooms have been recently refurbished. At the Macdonald Bear we take our food very seriously – so much so that our restaurant, featuring Modern British Cuisine, has been awarded Two AA Rosettes. Our Chef has also created an exciting Calendar of Events including Live Cookery Demonstrations.

The restaurant seats up to 80 people, and for special occasions there is a semi-private area. We also have several private rooms which can seat from 4 to 30 people. The restaurant is also available for private use. The Macdonald Bear Hotel boasts an air-conditioned conference centre and meeting rooms complete with state-of-the-art facilities.

London Heathrow Airport. From the South - take the M25 and then M40 towards Oxford. Leave the M40 at Junction 8 along the A40. At the Wolvercote Roundabout (just north of Oxford City Centre) take the A44 towards Evesham (& Woodstock). In Woodstock, take a left into the town centre.
