The PowderMills is a stunning, privately owned, 18th century listed country house hotel nestling in 150 acres of beautiful parklands, woods and large lakes. The Hotel is situated close to the historic town of Battle and adjoins the famous Battlefield of 1066.

The remains of a 60ft chimney, an old cistern and stones for crushing sulphur are the only indications that the PowderMills was for two centuries the site of a famous Gunpowder works, reputed to have made the finest gunpowder in Europe during the Napoleonic Wars. It has now been skilfully converted into a fascinating country hotel; the library with its oil paintings and old books, the drawing room with its elegant furniture, the private Georgian dining room with its enormous table, the large music room where civil weddings are held and the Orangery Restaurant with its marble floor, greek statues and huge windows looking out to the terrace and swimming pool.

There is a range of 40 individually decorated en-suite bedrooms and junior suites, many with 4 poster beds.

The Pavilion is a delightful Conference Centre accommodating up to 200 persons, situated away from the main Hotel with its own parking facilities, suitable also for Concerts, Events and Weddings.

The PowderMills is open to non-residents every day for luncheon, light library lunches and dinner. The Hotel has been awarded 2 AA rosettes for fine dining.

One mile down the lane, the hotel is situated on the right hand side after a sharp bend
