Dunfermline ? |
| Conferences, meetings, and events in what was a former capital of Scotland (for nearly six centuries) will appreciate the Fifeshire destination for its royal past (the burial place of seven Scottish kings – among them Robert the Bruce), palace ruins, and abbey (including its original 11th century foundations – and the Shrine of St. Margaret). Here also was born in 1835 the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie who endowed close to 3000 North American and British towns with libraries, giving away some £70m during his life. Venues include a choice of smaller characterful hotels in and close to the town, as well as culture/heritage settings.
Proximity to cosmopolitan Edinburgh, historic Kirkcaldy, the beaches of Leven, the fishing heritage of the ‘East Neuk’, and to St. Andrews (home of golf), are further plus points. Conference delegates can reach Dunfermline easily via the Forth Road Bridge (M90) from Edinburgh, by train, and through flights into Edinburgh airport.
