| Why
Belfast ? |
| Conferences, meetings, and events will appreciate a city framed by a landscape of hills, Belfast Lough, and the River Lagan and the hallmarks of which are its reputation for friendliness, regeneration (hundreds of millions of recent investments), and a new sense of peace and co-operation. Attractions include major shopping centres (e.g. Castle Court, Spires, Yorkgate, Victoria Square), an antique quarter, craft outlets, 11 golf courses, a dozen art galleries, a buzzing restaurant, bar and nightlife scene and not least, the Botanic Gardens, Ulster Museum, and the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum (recreated town of 1911). Venues include internationally branded specialist conference hotels, culture/heritage/academic/sporting settings, as well as major auditoria including the Waterfront Hall Conference and Concert Centre (seating to 2000), the King’s Hall Exhibition and Conference Centre (to 5500), and the Spires Conference and Exhibition Centre (to 1150).
Proximity to the Glens of Antrim (fishing villages, forests), the Giants Causeway, the legendary Mountains of Mourne (climb Slieve Donard?), and to historic sites such as Lisburn, Carrickfergus Castle and the walled city of Derry – and not forgetting Old Bushmills Distillery(!) – are further plus points. Conference delegates can reach Belfast easily by ferry (from Liverpool or Stranraer), and via Larne (from Fleetwood or Troon), and by air from close to 50 destinations. There is also a fast rail service from Dublin.
In conclusion: Belfast is a world-class, excitingly positive, hugely welcoming and memorably transformed meetings destination.
