Altrincham ? |
| Conferences, meetings, and events will appreciate the cotton-weaving heritage of a largely residential destination within Greater Manchester that is therefore slightly less distracting, but still very close to the city centre action and the airport. A key attraction is the Dunham Massey Estate (highlights include a collection of Huguenot silver, a herd of fallow deer, and an important garden). Venues include a good choice of branded hotels, as well as heritage/culture locations.
Proximity to ‘cool’ and cosmopolitan Manchester (bright lights, arts and cultural attractions, major conference centres, shopping, historic and modern architecture, sports stadia, etc.), and the county of Cheshire (historic Chester, Macclesfield Silk Museums, Adlington and Lyme Park Gardens, Tatton Park (Mansion, Old Hall, 1000-acre estate, 1930s farm with rare breeds), are further plus points. Conference delegates can reach Altrincham easily using the motorway network (M60, M56, M62, M6), by train, and through flights into Manchester airport.
In conclusion: whilst rather overshadowed in image by central Manchester itself, Altrincham is nevertheless a meetings destination combining venue choice with an excellent base for social programmes and exploring Cheshire.
