| Conferences, meetings, and events in this once medieval market town, and now part of greater Birmingham (a few miles to the north of the city) will particularly appreciate the heaths, moors and woodlands of 2400-acre Sutton Park (relatively little changed since secured by the Bishop of Exeter, John Veysey, in the early 16th century – he is entombed in the church). Additional attractions are Middleton Hall, dating from the 13th century, housing 24 embroideries of Sutton Coldfield, Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens, including a holly maze, nearby Tamworth Castle (Norman), and the Ikon Gallery, one of Europe’s premier venues for contemporary art. Venues include attractive specialist town and country conference hotels, as well as culture/heritage settings.
Proximity to the world-class destination of Birmingham (metropolitan and cosmopolitan: arts, culture, shopping, nightlife, etc.), and to the unique industrial heritage attractions of the Black Country, are further plus points. Conference delegates can reach Sutton Coldfield easily using the motorway network (M6, M6 Toll, M5, M42), by train, and through flights into Birmingham airport.
In conclusion: think of Sutton Coldfield as an out-of-town alternative to Birmingham, yet a meetings destination with all the advantages of the city close-by, together with a sense both of heritage and privacy.
