Pamplona ? |
| Conferences, meetings and events will find that the ‘capital of Navarra’ is of Roman origin and strongly associated with the Santiago route of the Pilgrims, but now most talked-about for its bull running festival in July (as much to do with food, wine, and dancing, too). Key attractions include the porticoed Plaza del Castillo (and its café culture), the Old Quarter, the gothic cathedral, the 16th century walls, the Bishops Palace, Diocesan Museum, and the all-encompassing Museum of Navarra. Venues include nearly 20 three- and four-star hotels (several are specialist conference properties), culture/heritage settings, as well as the Baluarte Conference Centre and Auditorium (seating to 1560; total exhibition space of 6,700 sq.m.).
Proximity to the Pilgrims’ Route (and the starting site of Roncesvalles), the splendidly historic town of Estelle-Lizarra (and also the heritage centres of Tudela and Olite), and to the Pyrenees (scenery, forests, views), are further plus points. Conference delegates can reach Pamplona easily by air (airport 6km) and rail services.
In conclusion: think of Pamplona as a festival destination, strongly linked to gastronomy, and offering a colourful combination of heritage and cultural options, with a firm sense of Spanish tradition. |
