Promoted officially as the ‘top choice MICE destination for South-Eastern Europe’. Bulgaria offers a mix of inspiring cities (e.g. Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna), memorable teambuilding (including diving courses), an excellent reputation for wines, an authentic historic background (monasteries, archaeological remains, museums, cathedrals etc), plus the sunshine pleasures of the Black Sea coast, and the wellness options of numerous spa resorts. The capital is especially important for the National Palace of Culture – Congress Centre Sofia (14 halls, a total of 8000 seats, 15,000 sq.m. of exhibition space; its many leading globally-branded five- and four-star hotels; ancient culture – notably the museum display of gold Thracian treasures); alongside a terrific range of shopping and entertainment options. Elsewhere in the unspoiled country there are activity challenges as varied as ballooning and yachting, safari-driving and learning to folk dance! MICE prices are generally very attractive. Bulgaria is easily accessible using direct international flights, and its cosmopolitan charms (among them a European-styled cuisine, but with oriental influences) make this an intriguingly different and ultimately stimulating destination for meetings, training courses and incentives.
